An honorary luncheon celebrating Fred and Roxanne Ramirez, the donors of the CNF Technologies & Ramirez Family Fund Scholarship, and its recipient, Sandra Barrera, was recently hosted by Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
In attendance was Dr. Taboada, Professor and Dean of Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering and Brad Walker, Vice President of Institutional Advancement & External Relations, in addition to a few others.
“We couldn’t have chosen a better recipient! I don’t know how we’re going to top Sandra Barrera in the future. It’s clear she’s a determined and intelligent scholar whose strong work ethic keeps her busy accomplishing her goals,” said Roxanne Ramirez.
Beyond offering mentorship opportunities and career advice, the Ramirezes and Sandra exchanged commonalities of growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, being one of many siblings, and sharing old and new campus memories.
Dean Taboada said, “I want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez for their generosity in providing this scholarship to a first-generation college student. I know their support will have a significant impact on the student recipient, Ms. Sandra Barrera, on her educational journey and future success. The College of Engineering is very thankful for their commitment to support our engineering students.”
Dr. Taboada went on to state, “Cultivating a strong culture of alumni engagement and giving back is not just a measure of an institution’s success, it is also a reflection of the values and commitment of its graduates to the betterment of society and the advancement of knowledge.”
Congratulations again Sandra and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
