POSITION DESCRIPTION:
CNF Technologies is searching for an Industrial Control Systems (ICS) / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Engineer with experience and knowledge designing, developing, configuring, and testing Operational Technology (OT) networks and ICS/SCADA devices used in critical infrastructures, to support United States Cyber Command and the Joint Electric Power Range at Fort Carson, Colorado. The Joint Electric Power Range incorporates high voltage power transmission lines, an electrical power substation facility, and associated electrical power transformers, switching, and ICS/SCADA components. A successful candidate should be a problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
As an ICS/SCADA Engineer, you will support our customers in collaborative laboratory and test range environments to identify threats to programmable logic, OT/ICS/SCADA systems, including Electric Power and related critical infrastructures. You will support the development of physical and virtual test ranges, and you will collaborate with mission partners and commercial/utility partners with the aim of protecting critical infrastructures. To this end, you will perform tasks that include:
• Support the customer organization’s mission and the objectives of the technical director
• Discover and investigate cybersecurity threats to critical infrastructure
• Research and develop solutions to discovered vulnerabilities
• Deploy physical and virtual solutions to appropriate test ranges
• Document and report test approach, plan, and results
• Perform testing, data collection, analysis and assessment of results
• Support mission partner development, configuration, and testing
• Perform directed research and prototyping
• Document assumptions, findings, and recommendations of research and prototype evaluation
• Integrate range capabilities to offer more realistic test and evaluation environments
• Upon request, collaborate with partner ranges and travel as necessary
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and knowledge in the following areas:
• Developing software using higher order languages (C, C++, Python, Java)
• Experience with Windows, Linux, RTOS (VxWorks, Wind River)
• Ability to program and configure RTU, PLC and IED hardware
• Knowledge of data communications and automation protocols (DNP3.0, MODBUS. IEC 60870-5-101/103/104, IEC 61850, SEL, Ethernet/IP, OPC)
• Experience using CAD software to review, modify and design technical drawings, schematics and one-line drawings
• Experience developing ICS/SCADA/HMI systems
• Ability to design, install, troubleshoot and operate all hardware and software and hardware for an ICS/SCADA/HMI environment
• Performing cyber threat and vulnerability analysis for ICS/SCADA
• Virtualizing critical infrastructure environments and components to model real-world environments
• Operational experience with OT/ICS/SCADA in electrical power, water, energy, transportation, manufacturing, or other critical infrastructures

REQUIREMENTS:
• Security Clearance: Current Top Secret with SCI eligibility
• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the following majors: Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering with ICS/SCADA or robotics specialization. Other STEM degrees with relevant experience will be considered. Master of Science Degree preferred
• Experience / Knowledge: Minimum 2 years of experience and/or academic research in the areas identified; references requested
• Location: Colorado Springs, CO at customer site (Fort Carson) & CNF site, partial hybrid schedule (customer and supervisor defined)
• Travel: This role may require travel up to 25% of time
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $90,000/year to $120,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract rates, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. CNF also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
