Electronic Engineer, Hardware Engineer or Computer Engineer with Developmental and Integration background will conduct design engineering, testing, and production support to FPGA-centered communication systems.
Responsible for developing ground, airborne and space communication systems; focusing primarily on the use of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and other embedded processing solutions for digital signal processing utilizing Software Defined Radio (SDR) designs supporting a variety of commercial and federal customers. Further responsibility for electronic system interaction with subsystems associated with Satellite Ground Systems.
Experience / knowledge with developing skills in the following areas are preferred:
*Developing embedded (FPGA, transceiver device) applications (VHDL, Verilog).
*Design experience with Xilinx, Intel (Altera) or Microsemi (Actel) chip simulation tools and environments.
*Experience with RF communications, subsystem design, and employment of SDRs to complex engineering applications, including Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) studies.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
*Developing and enhancing FPGA-based communication systems development, including specification of components, and design and analysis of system requirements.
*Designing and implementing functional simulation tests, and subsequent integrated hardware tests to verify subsystem and system designs.
*Integrating FPGA synthesized design into hardware architectures for operational use.
*Engineering and development of RF or digital signal processing systems, SDR, etc.
*Design Tools Experience: REMCOM XFdtd or similar RF simulation tools; NASA nos3 or equivalent Ground System design or operational experience; FPGA simulation/design experience using Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or ModelSim.
*Hardware Development Experience: VHDL or Verilog and FPGA developer tools.
*Software Development Experience: C/C++, Python, Java, etc.
*BS and 6 years’ experience in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering
*MS and 4 years’ experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering
*PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Engineering
Eligible for US SECRET clearance.
Work can be accomplished remotely. Some hardware activities will be coordinated at our laboratory in San Antonio, Texas
