News 4 Career Connections Town Hall featuring Steve Barish

News 4 San Antonio’s Simone De Alba hosted Career Connections Town Hall, a discussion with local employers aimed at helping individuals find jobs in the Alamo City. Companies represented on the discussion panel included CNF Technologies, Port San Antonio, Dynamic Advancement, Baptist Health Systems, Workforce Solutions Alamo, and Goodwill. Representatives of each organization provided details on positions currently available and what individuals can do to get hired for the job.

Steve Barish, CNF’s Chief Operations Officer, spoke on behalf of the company detailing significant growth over the past several years. He also highlighted the need for additional employees.

“We’re looking for software developers, computer scientists, vulnerability researchers – people who are interested in solving really challenging problems in security. Whether you’re an entry level employee or a college student about to graduate here within the next year or you’re an experienced professional, there’s probably something we have to offer from a position perspective that would be attractive for most folks who are interested in the security domain.”

Part of Career Connections is introducing job seekers in San Antonio to companies and career fields they may not be aware of.

“We’ve been engaged in solving cyber security and security in general for national clients since 2005…that’s the business that we’re in – making sure the information used is secure, confidential, that the integrity of it is maintained. Quite frankly where it’s the national security advantage of the United States, to perhaps deter other people from being able to have an intelligence advantage over us.”

The discussion also touched on training and what skills each organization is looking for. “Invest in yourself,” Steve said. He continued, “There’s so much free training online now, free education online now. Spend a little bit of time understanding and learning about the kind of job you think you want to do. An attitude of continual learning is essential for you to be successful, not just you getting in the door, but throughout your career.”

“At the end of the day it’s attitude and aptitude that really matter.”

As the Town Hall came to a close, Steve described the type of people CNF is looking for, “If you get jazzed up by solving problems, if you get excited by being apart of something that’s bigger than yourself and you want to be in an organization that wants you to succeed from the ownership on down, you want to come work at CNF Technologies.”
